Journal Series #3: What It’s Like Riding The Subway In NYC

Taking the Subway again after so many year’s is strange but somewhat exciting. At least at first I was excited. When we first got on the subway, it was pretty empty, then of course at each stop, more and more people would get on. By the time you know it, you can’t move! You’re pretty much stuck in between strangers! I felt like a sardine!

I think it’s great to have other forms of transportation but I sure as hell won’t miss This! Lol Especially trying to get onto a subway when it’s pretty crowded. If there is some room, people won’t let you pass at the entrance!! So rude! But I guess that’s how NY is. People become cold and careless to the extreme.

      1. I lived in NY till I was 12 and was very sheltered lol then moved to Florida! Lived there for 12 years. So I know how it is living in FL more than here, All I know is that I really don’t like the Bronx which is where I’m from.

  1. Well, trust me, this is pretty much everywhere. The past few weeks (during my vacation) I did everything by train (I live in Holland), and hardly a day went bu without being overcrowded in trains. Usually though, it’s not a bad form of transportation 😊

  2. I visited NY once and went for a ride on NYC subway. It looked and felt weird. I found that platforms are a bit too narrow. One side of the platform on wall street station was 2 may be 3 meters wide.
Trains were empty with the exception of one time when people going to a hockey game. Also, train operator’s voice was like doctor’s writing – you hear familiar sounds, but in general it was impossible to understand. But I really enjoyed that city.

    1. Yeah, it is really weird! I know what you mean when you say it’s a bit narrow. What I do like about it though is that it’s faster. Driving to Time’s Square is a nightmare and it takes forever to find parking! But I do love the city as well, especially at night!
