Dust Mite Allergy?!?!

I have been dealing with really bad allergies my whole life! Living in a older house recently, my allergies have gotten worse. I was waking up every morning tired, with itchy eyes, my nose leaking, and I was sneezing all day, constantly. I had enough and decided it was finally time to take an allergy test!

I’ve  been debating a long time whether I should take the test or not but it was getting to the point where I felt like I was going down hill and couldn’t live my life the way I wanted.

I went to a local clinic to take my allergy test. I was a little freaked out because I hate going to the doctors and I didn’t know what to expect. In the office, the assistant pulled up my sleeves and started injecting me with different fluids in my skin. We had to wait 15 minutes to see if certain areas of my skin will rise. I started getting really itchy on my right arm in less than 10 minutes! It was driving my crazy and I wanted to scratch it so bad!

Circled in red is Dust Mites!

From 1-4 is how badly I’m allergic to the allergy causing substances:

  • A1: Cat +2
  • A2: Dog +4
  • A3: Feathers +3
  • A4: Dust Mite DF +4
  • A5: Cockroach +2
  • A6: N/A
  • A7: Histamine +3
  • A8: Dust Mite DP +4

A video the doctor had me watch:

Once my mother and I found out what I was allergic too, we went shopping that same day for Dust Mite Allergen Proof products. We did a deep cleaning to the whole house! Sprayed both of our mattresses and pillows with Bed Bug & Flea Fogger, waited an hour or so and then put the new Allergy & Bedbug Protector covers on.
Products from Walmart:

I have been taking some medication (Prednisone) so I can feel and breathe better. I’m almost done with them and they definitely helped a lot. I’m also using drops called SLIT everyday, I have to take them for 3 months and then hopefully some of my allergies will be gone completely.
SLIT (Sublingual Immunotherapy) Drops:

What is sublingual immunotherapy?
Unlike most allergy drugs — which only treat symptoms temporarily — sublingual immunotherapy addresses the underlying cause of allergies. Allergy drops are administered under the tongue in gradually increasing dosages until the patient develops a tolerance to the allergy-causing substance.

Prednisone:

Prednisone treats many different conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders.

As of today, I feel so much better and happier! I’m not waking up feeling miserable anymore, the itchy eyes and sneezing has stopped all together within a week.

The allergy test was a bit pricey. It was $400 plus the medication was a couple hundred more, but if you’re suffering from allergies, you might want to just go for it…

      1. A lot of people deal with common situations in life, but will that stop them from sharing they’re experiences with other’s? Of course not, because we all can learn from one another. 😄
